Got time for a quickie?

This is a cute little count down hanging plaque that I picked up at a close-out store. I just knew when I saw it that I would have to make a Christmas count down with it.IMG_6356
Well, I kept putting it off until today. Now that there’s only 10 days left. Why not?! I used Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps on it with some of Stampin’ Up!’s glass glitter, small jingle bells and some pretty ribbon.

I love it!

oH nO yOU dIDN’T!

Oh yes I did!
Look at this awesome beauty shop chair that I picked up at a local thrift shop.

Of course, I will have to re cover the loud colored cover.

This chair is sooooo comfortable and look at the foot rest! And, it goes low enough to be my new desk chair. But if I want to change a light bulb, it pumps up way high with the foot pedal.
Just kidding. It doesn’t go THAT high but it does go up real good.
I LOVE IT! You know you love it too!
Hope my hubby doesn’t divorce me over it.XO, MimiIMAG0235

The BEST crafting night EVER!

I had the most wonderful evening with my daughters, crafting. I don’t get my older daughter to craft often but since she has been pregnant, she has helped me create aprons and now, these miniature works of art.

I saw this post and I just knew that I had to make one. So, after taking my daughter to a doctors appt. we stopped at our favorite craft store so I could pick up some supplies. While there I asked her if she would be interested in playing too. I tried to contain my enthusiasm when she said she would love to.

I think they turned out magnificent. I love how different they all are even though we had the same table of supplies to work with.

Maggie’s is a manger scene with many, many birds on top. Katie’s is a forest scene with decorated trees and snowmen and has an angel that she made on top. Mine is a little house with trees, a sled, snowman, sheep and the girl is me. Lots of yummy glitter goodness.

Life is sweet. XO, Mimi

So much to do, so little time!

I can’t believe it has been so long since my last post. I have been very busy with lots of projects.

In my last post, I was making aprons for myself. Well, boy did that take off into a new adventure! My friend Trish called me and asked if I would consider making some to sell. Sure! No problem. I love a new adventure. So, my daughter and I got busy and this is what we came up with. I love them so much more than the ones I made for myself. They have Jolee’s Jewels on them, stamped swirls, handmade flowers, and lots of other special stuff.

Now we have to get busy making some more for people who saw these and want one of their own.
This has turned into a fun way to spend time with my “closet crafter” daughter.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day! XO, Mimi

Ever happen to you?

So, I was anticipating my day of play with Margie Romney-Aslett and I decided I needed a new apron for the event. So, I went through a pile of old jeans that had been given to me by my Dad and found the pair I would use. I had seen the idea on a blog somewhere, ( if you only knew how many blogs I stalk daily and all of the amazing ideas I have saved).

This is the apron I made and I was very happy with it. Sure, I plan, in Mimi style, to add some more lace, ribbon and bling before I can call it complete.
That’s Coco modeling the apron. So, I like to name my dress forms. Don’t judge me.
I went to bed that night with happy thoughts of wearing my new apron. La la la.

I awoke the next morning in a creative friendzy, with an idea in my head that almost hurt to keep inside of me. I’m serious! Initial thought, overalls! I had to make an apron from an old pair of overalls. Not just any overalls, my favorite overalls. These overalls have been with me for so many years, through pregnancy, through ups and downs. They are like an old friend. That is why it had to be them.

So, I worked feverishly, all day until this is what I came up with. As always, I still have more that I want to do to it but I SO love this apron! This is Sophia modeling the apron.

Never fight those creative awakenings Ladies! Hope you had a great weekend. I can hardly wait to show you what I made while wearing this apron. Thanks for stopping by! XO, Mimi

An ADVENTurous Holiday 2010!

Yeah, I love to play on words just about as much as I love Advent Calendars! Hope you don’t mind my cheesiness.

I want everyone to have plenty of time to plan and RSVP for the three advent calendars that I am going to have workshops on. I have not secured the dates yet but you can be sure that they will be in October and November.

The first is one that I did last year but I know that there are a few new friends in my group and I would like you to have the chance to make this awesome calendar. It is made from a mini muffin tin with magnetic closures on each muffin cup to hide a goodie and to decorate with a number and other embellishments. The cost of this workshop is $25.00 and includes an entire table full of goodies for decorating your calendar in your style. There will be stickers, Thickers, rub-ons, buttons, brads, glitter, ribbon, etc… If you’ve been to “The Studio”, you know all about the goodies I’ve got!
IMG_3324

The second is new from Stampin’ Up! and is in the Holiday Mini Catalog on page 34. Although the kit includes everything you need to make the boxes, it does not include all of the extras that I would add to my completed project. So, at this workshop, I will have a large table of extra goodies for you to add to your boxes to make them more “YOU”. The cost of this workshop is also $25.00. You will not be disappointed with this perpetual family treat!
IMG_5919

Last, but not least, is the Tree Advent Calendar. This is a plastic tree with 24 boxes to decorate and fill with goodies as you count down to Christmas. This workshop will be held at H2U as part of a Holiday Gift Extravaganza. The cost of this workshop is $15.00. More specifics to come SOON!IMG_5918

Card Cafe’ with a Holiday Twist!

Just wanted to give a small preview of the Holiday table I am adding to my Card Cafe’. These items are in addition to all of the other wonderful items that are here for the using. Plus I have many holiday papers and cards and gift cards that are not shown here. This month’s Card Cafe’ is on the 21st from 10 AM to 2 PM. If I get enough interest, I will be happy to have a weekend session too. You just have to let me know.

IMG_5908

Sorry for the boring backdrop, I didn’t want my cabinets full of goodies to take away from the items on the table.

Additional Photos of the Holiday Card Cafe’

Sorry I had to put this in a couple posts. My program didn’t like how many photos I was posting.

It’s that time of the month again!

Class Schedule time that is!

IMG_5903
Cards and Stamps class  this month features the set “Aviary”. This was the first set that I “had to have” when the new catalog came out this year. I love how playful it is and birds are so “IN” right now. In this class, you will make 2 each of the 5 cards shown and get the stamp set to take home with you, all for $20.00. The class is on the 15th from 10 AM till1 PM and 6 PM till 9 PM. Because I have to order the stamp sets so they are here in time for the class, you must R.S.V.P. and prepay by the 7th. I know that doesn’t give much notice but I promised some special friends that I would have the class on the 15th so they can come.

IMG_5904
Many Mini Milk Cartons
is the class I will be teaching on the 11th at H2U this month. For $10.00, you will create 6 adorable mini milk cartons using Stampin’ Up!’s  die from Sizzix, appropriately named, “Mini Milk Carton” and the stamp set “Got Treats”. Please R.S.V.P. by Friday so I can bring enough supplies for everyone. All you need for the class is scissors and glue, if you have any but I will be bringing some glue to share.

Card Cafe will be on the 21st this month and I will be adding lots of Halloween, Fall and Christmas items to the buffet. I am keeping the extra hour in the schedule. It seemed to work better for those who came last month. Don’t forget to bring a snack or lunch since you will be here from 10 AM till 2 PM. The cost is $20.00 and you can make as many cards as you like. I am also going to add to my idea boards with the new items added. Please R.S.V.P. no later than the 19th.

Mom and Me is going to be on the 19th from 10 AM till 12 PM this month. As far as I can tell, there are no softball tournaments on that day so, lets keep our fingers crossed! I am not exactly sure what we will be doing. It really depends on how many come. But, as always, the cost is $10.00 per Mom and kid. We always have a great time with our kids at this class and I know you regulars have been missing it for the last couple months. Sorry about that. I promise to have one every month till the end of the year! Please R.S.V.P. no later than the 17th so I can prepare.

That’s it for now. If I come up with anything else, I will be sure to post it right here. Thanks for stopping by. XO, Mimi

Please R.S.V.P. by the evening of the 12th so I can bring enough supplies.

August Class Calendar

Wow! I think this is a first. I actually have samples, pictures and dates ready before the first of the month. I am feeling so good about me right now. There are only 3 workshops at the studio this month, due to softball and last minute “get away” before the school year starts. OK, enough about that, let’s get to the line-up.

August 11th 10AM to 1PM Pop-Up Card Class $15.00
This month we will be using the pop-up tree. Remember, the die is included with the cost of the class! The regular price of this die is $39.00. All supplies are included. I only have 5 of these dies so, the class is limited to the first 5 who sign up and pre-pay. Here is the card we will be making.

August 17th 10AM to 2PM Card Cafe’ $20.00
I have extended this class from a 3 hour workshop to 4 hours. I want you to be able to make as many cards as you can. I add new items to the buffet table every month. New papers, images, die cuts, etc… Feel free to bring a bag lunch or something to snack on since this runs right through lunch time. Please RSVP before the 16th.
IMG_5852 IMG_5851

August 25th 10 AM to 1PM and 6PM to 9PM  Butterfly Prints Card Class $20.00
Included in the cost of this class are the stamp set “Butterfly Prints” as well as two each of the five cards pictured above. You must RSVP and pre-pay before August 17th to hold a spot in this class and allow enough time for the stamps to be ordered and delivered. The butterfly stamp has a coordinating paper punch. If you would like to order this and get it at the class, the additional cost is $16.95 + tax. Just let me know when you RSVP. Also, one lucky lady from each class will win a package of their choice of Stampin' Up! Rub-ons. (a $10.95 value)

Well, that’s it for August. I will be sure to let you know if there is a Mom and Me workshop on the 15th. If Mags doesn’t have a softball tournament, we will be having the workshop.

Thanks for checking in. XO, Mimi

WOYWW

IMG_58491

I love this new Wednesday habit. It is funny what you see on your desk when you look at it through the eye of the camera.

Front and center is a stamp set I picked up at Michaels yesterday. I really don’t have a road trip planned but I HAD to have it so I could “paper piece” the title and cute car. “My name is Mimi and I am addicted to stamps.” It did turn out cute though.

Then there are some butterfly stamps for a class I am working on for August.  Some mini milk cartons for another class I am working on called, Many Mini Milk Cartons. *giggle* I giggle every time I say it. The very last of the tube of hand cream that I had on my desk last week. Now it’s barely a capful left. That’s really all. Kind of boring today. Maybe I’ll have something more exciting next Wednesday. Come back and check.

Thanks for stopping by. XO, Mimi

I love this cool new punch from Stampin' Up! I also love seeing all of the fun things other people arrrr doing with theirs. I decided to drag out some of this retired DSP and make mine a little eye patch. Love it!

What's on your workdesk Wednesday?

Yup. That's my desk this morning. It may look messy but, the creating space is clear and ready for some mojo to get flowing.
So, what you see is a stamp set that I intended to make a card with yesterday when a friend came to visit. We ended up chatting the whole time which was really nice.
There is my "new to me" headset phone. I ordered it from Amazon after spending over an hour on the phone with my daughter and killing my neck. I love it!
My new French Manor Cricut cartridge that I have not used yet. Very excited to cut some paper with that.
A pile of photos that I printed last night of my daughter's Birthday weekend. Checks that need to be deposited. Glue bottles being "married" together. Some new nail polish I ordered for my daughter for her Birthday. It was invented by a Mom. A hand creme tube that I had to cut the bottom off of to get the last little bit out of. Much more stuff here and there too.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great Wednesday! XO, Mimi

Some Class Samples

I finally took pictures of my samples for up coming classes. Enjoy!

This is the pop-up candle card that we will be doing for the class. Not only will we be making the super cute card, that can be used for any age or gender, but you will also get the Sizzix die to make more of these. By the way, this die retails for $40.00. Stay on the lookout for next month’s pop-up. I only have room for 5 and it fills up FAST!

This sample board is for the class on the 27th. With this class we will be making 2 each of these cards and getting the stamp set “Artful Etchings” for $20.00. You can’t beat that! The stamp set alone is $14.95 before shipping and tax. Remember to RSVP by the 16th if you want to take this class because I have to order the set for everyone. Oh yeah, and one luck person, from the AM and PM class, will win an assortment of the Newsprint paper.

IMG_5693

FYI- I have 2 of the pop-up beach chair dies left. They were so popular, I ordered a couple more. They are $15.00. Let me know ASAP, if you want one. This is the card we made with them.

That’s all for now. Have a great Wednesday!

Time to play!

Well, I got the invitations done and my desk is cleared off and it is time to play!IMG_5691

I have considered jumping onto the table and rolling around on the new products first but reconsidered. Not sure the table could hold my weight and if I fell and got hurt it would cut into my play time. Oh well, enough of that, I’m gettin’ busy.

Hopefully I will have something for you tomorrow, to show my productivity today.

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

I’m very distracted today! Lookie!

I told myself this morning that I would start making invitations for my daughter’s birthday sleepover and get them in the mail, TODAY! The party is next Friday and I only have to make 3. You would think this would be a simple task. For the average person, perhaps. But this is me we are talking about. I even cleared my creating area on my desk and started stamping a few images. This is my desk today.

IMG_5690

But then, my UPS husband came for a visit. He is so wonderful, he always brings me gifts and all he wants in return is a smile and a thank you. I think we’ll be together forever. *sigh* OK, back to reality. Take a look at what he brought for me today. He always seems to know what will make me happy.

So, as I sit and create little girl spa sleepover invitations, my eyes keep wandering over to my new toys that are waiting, ever so patiently, for their turn to take up the creating area on my desk.

Thanks for stopping by to listen to my chatter! XO, Mimi

Where's my desk?!

It's the beginning of the month and I am working feverishly on class projects for all of my wonderful stamping friends and loyal customers. As I work, the creating space gets smaller and smaller. I suppose I will need to clean up before the end of the day or run out of space to create on. Argh!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my chaos! LOL! XO, Mimi

Happy Birthday America!

In perfect Florida style, it is raining on the 4th of July. It is rare that it doesn’t rain on this festive day each year. But, since it is only good weather for ducks, I am hangin’ out in the studio, listening to the Glee soundtracks and being creative. I even decided to make up my schedule of workshops for the month. Hey, it’s only the 4th, why rush these things!?

This is what I have come up with, so far:

Saturday, July 10th I will be doing a make and take tag at H2U. This is the 3rd in my Technique Tags Series. If you are a member, I hope to see you there. If you live near Pt. Charlotte, FL and are not a member, what are you waiting for? I have not set the time yet but I will be sure to let you know, as soon as I do.

Tuesday, July 13th from 10 till 1 I will be having a Card Cafe’. For those of you who don’t know what that means, I set up all kinds of card making supplies and idea boards and you create all the cards you can in the 3 hour period. I get a lot of requests for this workshop because of the variety of supplies that are on the “buffet”. There’s everything from Prima flowers, buttons, die cuts to pre cut cards, stamped and colored images and ribbons. The cost of the workshop is $20.00. Please R.S.V.P. no later than Sunday the 11th.

Sunday, July 18th from 10 till 12 I am having a Mom and Me class. We haven’t had one since April. Yikes! I am not exactly sure what we are going to be making yet but I wanted to make sure you mark your calendar in advance. The cost of the class is $10.00 and we always have a fun time. Please be sure to R.S.V.P. no later than Friday, the  16th so I have time to put kits together.

Wednesday, July 21st from 10 till 1 I am having another Sizzix Pop-Up card class. This time we will be using the candle pop-up die. The cost of the class is $15.00 and along with learning how to make a totally cool card, you get to keep the die! Yup! That’s right! This Pop-Up die is regularly priced at $39.99. I only have 5 of the dies so R.S.V.P. fast!

Tuesday, July 27th from 10 till 1 and from 6 till 9 I am having an Ooh La La Cards Class. What’s that you ask? Well, in this class we will be making 10 cards with envelopes using the new Stampin’ Up! set called Artistic Etchings (pg.125 in catalog) and the new Designer Series Paper called Newsprint. You will make 2 each of 5 different card designs (so you can keep one for yourself and give one away) AND get the stamp set to take home. The cost of the class is $20.00 and you must R.S.V.P. no later than Friday, the 16th so I can order the stamp sets for everyone. One lucky person from each class will be taking home a collection of the designer paper we are using!

Well, that’s it for now. I will try to get pictures up as soon as I get them taken.

Today is the day!

Today is the first day of the new Stampin' Up! catalog! Go to my Stampin' Up! website for some wonderful new specials. Click on the link to the left!

A GREAT class!

We had a great class yesterday at the studio. We made 3 cards with the Cricut. But, the best part was how much everyone learned about using the Cricut. I think everyone walked away with a mountain of knowledge. If you need some Cricut instruction, keep your eyes open for another class this month!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Look what we made!

In the “POP-Up” card class last week we made these awesome cards. Isn’t it the coolest!? And the best part is that for the $15.00 class fee, the participants left with this card, knowledge of how to make it and the die for the pop-up beach chair. Are you dyeing with envy? Well, settle down. I am going to be doing another one in July. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming class schedule!

By the way, the chair die is normally $39.99.

Some Fun Sizzix Cards

I have to share these wonderful cards with you. I made them with Sizzix dies which made the job so nice and easy. Just cut, embellish, smile!

This is the Cupcake Pocket Card. I cut the cupcake top out with the sizzix and ran it through the Xyron to make it sticky then added lots of yummy glitter. The sprinkles are a pearly squeeze paint and all of the paper is from Stampin’ Up! Don’t you just want to take a bite?
IMG_5435
This one is the Strawberry Card. Again, cut, embellish and smile! This was copied from a make and take I did at CHA at the sizzix booth but I used all Stampin’ Up! papers.
IMG_5436
The last one is the Flower Pot Pocket Card. I have seen many patterns on the web for this style card but I prefer to let my Sizzix do the cutting for me.
IMG_5438
If you live locally, I will be offering these cards in a class at H2U on the 12th of the month. If you are a member, let me know if you would like to attend.

Have a great day! XO, Mimi

Mother’s Day Mom and Me Class

Here are a couple shots of two of my favorite Mom and Me attendees. This month we made a gift for Mom so, Mom had to stay away. I helped the kids paint and glue and stamp and color their way to a beautiful jeweler holder for Mom. They even made their own wrapping paper so Mom couldn’t see what they made until it was time to open it up. They were so proud of their creation and I am so proud that they were able to wait till Mother’s Day before letting Mom know what they made.

As you can see, I forgot to get a picture of them with their completed project before wrapping it. Sorry.

Some Easter Shots, better late than never!

Wow! Has it been that long since Easter? Holy cow! I was going through my pictures last night. Maggie wanted to scrapbook and I was trying to find some photos for her and there were the pics from Easter.

Maggie and her friends were having a blast decorating cupcakes and a bunny cake that I saw on KraftFoods.com. Love that site!

I was standing on a chair so I could get a better vantage point. Aren’t they precious!?
