Win some Latte-Loot!

After typing the previous post, I have decided to send my "Wood Block Conundrum" out into the stamp community for some suggestions.
I am asking for suggestions on what to do with all of these wood blocks.
I am the type of person who hates to throw away something if it is perfectly good and has a use.

So, send me your suggestions and after I read them all, I will pick a winner for the goodie package I have pictured.
I will pick the winner on the evening of Wednesday, the 30th.
This should give plenty of time to come up with some GREAT sulutions! Thanks for your help!

  1. Well, my first thought is to sell them on ebay -- seems there is a market for almost anything!

Another idea is to frame some of them --- like a shadow box (assuming htat you still have the sticker on the back). It could be some neat artwork for your stamp room or even for a friend who stamps.

  2. I would say that you could give them away as some Latte-Loot! I know I could use some. I buy unmounted rubber stamps and then go into my hubby's scrap wood pile and put them on those. But these would be SO nice to have since they are the right size and shape (and they won't give you splinters!) I do like the latte-loot you are giving away right now too! Thanks!

  3. Wow... Maybe someday I'll get around to doing that myself. My stampas take up SO much of my stamp room. But it would take forever to get them all off the wood. I had a friend who gave me a shoebox of blocks because she also went with the unmounted system. I agree with Heather and Cheryl. Someone will want them. Sell them or give them away is probably the answer. Good luck!

  4. I would try ebay. There is always someone looking for something on ebay. Or you could give them away to friends maybe? Hope I helped.. :D

  5. Just like on previous posts I suggest you selling them on ebay or giving away to someone who needs them. You could ask school or daycare centre if they would like to have them.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Sell them or give them away for the cost of shipping on buy/sell/trade at splitcoast.

Decorate them as baby blocks for a gift. Maybe even make a very simple matching game for small children. They would probably like that with their chubby little hands, better than matching cards.

Make a picture holder: stand the block on end, decorate, bore a small hole in top to hold some wire. Curl the wire at the top to hold a picture. Maybe your kids would make these for Father's day?

Large blocks could even be decorated as a cute little picture frame for your girls' rooms with their fave pic.

    Okay, I'm out of ideas.

  7. Wow...Bethany has some great ideas! I was just going to say they could be painted or altered just like you might do to dominoes. (Covered in DP, modge-podged and weighted to be a paper weight for cute gifts?)

  8. Well all the ideas I had are listed. Love the kids blocks - do a set of alphabets! Good Luck! Have a great weekend.

  10. I was going to say decorate them as well I love the alphabet blocks for kids. The only other idea I have is to decorate them for x-mas ornaments. Or little gifts to put onto your x-mas packages.

  11. I like the idea of baby blocks, or puzzles by printing out a larger picture, mod podge it onto the blocks and trim. Kids would love to figure out the picture. Spell out a childs name to set on a shelf. Great building blocks for kids. They would love to stack them and knock them down. Can you tell I work with the kids at church? Always do the crafts for VBS. Paint ABC's on them or spell a childs name and adhere to a picture frame.

  12. I don't the size of the blocks but I have seen some really cool picture blocks. Where you put the pictures on 2 side and use letters on the other side to spell holidays. Also I once made up a puzzle with lots of small blocks. I glued a print I was saving to the blocks, used a razon knife to cut them apart agains. Did the same to all the sides, then sanded the edges. The kids love to make them into the correct picture. Also you need to make a print of the picture while it is whole, so they know what to look for when they are making the puzzle.

  13. I think you should use them for fire wood! lol. no if others could use them that would be the best thing to do for sure!

  14. glue patterned paper to the blocks in all sorts of matching patterns and colors and then embellish with rub ons, flowers, buttons and photos to make photo cubes.

  15. I know I have seen several requests for blocks on my blog journey's. I would sugguest trying to sell them directly from your blog, or SCS or even eBay. I am sure that you will get rid of them in no time. There are just as many people who prefer mounted stamps as there are those going UM. Let them pay the shipping on the number of blocks they want. The other ideas are great as far as altering them, giving them to a day care, etc.

  16. I've seen lots of these blocks on SCS in their buy/sell/trade forum. I have quite a few, since I like using unmounted stamps & am going to begin using them for crafting in Childrens' Church & Sunday School. If your church has Vacation Bible School this summer they would probably appreciate receiving them.

  17. Too bad you can not break them down someway into fuel for the car. With the price of gas now that would be great.

  18. Wow what a fun bog candy you are giving away. This really makes your creative mind thinking. Well of course the first thing that came to mind was EBAY. The second thing that came to mind was alter the blocks. You could stamp and add a letter on each side that would spell a word. Make some cool magnets or cool drawer handles for the craft area or kids rooms.

  19. I would donate them to a childrens hospital or womans shelter for kids to play with! Just like 'real' blocks! They can build tunnels, castles, towers, whatever else they can dream up!

  20. I work in a daycare and my suggestion would be the same as everyone else, whether they get refinished or not, little guys like to stack and build with anything. I can tell you from experience too, to purchase a set of wooden block like these, would not be cheap, so they'd be appreciated I'm sure, wherever they went.

  21. I would paint them and then stamp a letter on each, and spell out cute words/sayings. There would be some tall, some short, and you could use different fonts for the letters making it really cool and quirky but personalized at the same time! (the only thing is that you'd have to remove the labels and that might leave some sticky residue on the block)!

  22. OK, another idea...take two large blocks that are the same size, and use them as the front & back of an accordian book. You'll need to come up with the inside of the accordian book pages but that shouldn't be hard using cardstock. It could then be personalized on the 'front' of the accordian book with a photo or some creative stamping/background paper that you make!!! :)

  23. A couple more ideas...

1 - mount them along the top of your stamp room as a funky border

2 - throw them into a wood chipper and use as mulch in your flower beds/garden

  24. Play Jenga with them. Ha, ha! Ok, actually I would take them to a daycare or preschool. Kids love building with unique things. I have a nephew who loves farm stuff. He would want them painted green so that they could be bales of hay.

  25. I say, stamp on them and make kids puzzles (by stamping overlapping images), or kids games (like tic, tac, toe)!

  26. My first idea was like many others, make them into building blocks. Teething babies would love these. My kids loved to bite on the wooded window ledge while they were cutting teeth.
Second idea was for older children. Each block you can decorate with DP and each block gets a letter, like A N N. Can work with girls and boys.

  27. I left my suggestion on your previous post. I think you should glue them to an old scuffed up card table, coffee table, etc. It would make such a wonderful wood table top and have all those pretty pictures and designs on it. Fun Fun Fun:)

  28. Wow - what a great bunch of creative ideas! The last suggestion I thought was cool... I saw something like it on HGTV. You can make a shadow box table with an old window for the top, then place all of your blocks under the glass.
In order to get the pictures off the stamp without the residue, try un-du adhesive remover. It works AWESOME!
The only other thing I thought of (that others didn't) was recycling the blocks to a paper mill or something like that (if there is one in your area.)
I'm glad I found your blog! I love your cards, and look forward to seeing more of your creativity. (I put you on my Google Reader... LOVE that tool!)

  29. I wonder if stampin'up would want them back - maybe give you a credit or something - at least for part of them that couldn't be used for kids crafts, etc.

    love your cards!

  30. They would be great for kids, you could paint (or Stamp) numbers on the blocks with the addition, subtraction, multiplication sign and they could use them for math games. I am sure there would be schools, day care, boys clubs, the Y that could use them.
