No Card Class this week, just a pretty card

I won't be having a class this week, in honor of Independence Day. I hope you have some festive plans with family and loved ones.
This is a "Card in a Box" style card with a bit of a twist.
I made this card to fit a 5x7 envelope. I wanted it to be different than other box cards. So, instead of making it have 3 flaps, it has just 2 and they are held down with ribbon.
I used a lot of paper flowers, leaves, a butterfly and even some vines from my yard.
I made this for a dear friend of mine who recently lost her husband. I wanted it to be a sort of "Memory Garden" for her. It also has a beautiful poem on the back.
I hope you enjoy it and try one yourself. It's much more easy than you think.

Cascading cards are soooo much fun!!!

Last night, a few of my friends and I played around with the "Cascading Card" technique. I know that Susan Peters, from The Crafting Cow, had done a class on it at the last H2U. However, I was too busy to get her instruction.
I have seen them all over Pinterest lately and there are some great ones on Splitcoast Stampers too. I wish Splitcoast would do a tutorial on them. Splitcoast has always, hands down, posted the best tutorials. If you have ever tried to write a tutorial or teach someone how to do any fancy fold technique, you know that it is NO easy task!
Anyway, after I watched some You Tube videos and figured it out, I decided to invite a few close friends over to try it too.
It was so much fun. Here are the cards we came up with. They are not all the way finished, because it started getting late, but you can tell they had fun and when they are done, they will be spectacular!
These are a couple that I made using old Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin kits that I have had hanging around FOREVER!! I love using Stampin' Up!'s Window sheets (#114323 page 216 $4.95) for the clear pieces that the letters are on. The plastic is nice and sturdy and just seems to disappear. Perfect!

Here is one that my friend Lisa made for her Father's Birthday. She also used a Simply Scrappin' Kit and some Window Sheet pieces for the "floating" pieces. I think this turned out awesome!!!

The other three are not embellished yet but I'm sure, when they are done, someone is going to be very happy to get one in the mail!

Talk dirty to me

Dirty laundry, that is. LOL!
I love these stamps and the funny saying that come with them.
There are so many cute pictures and funny stuff like:
"Don't give me any Static!"
"Feelin' Dirty?"
"Wanna take a spin?"
"When I said "I Do" I didn't mean laundry..."
There are plenty more too.

Have a happy day! XO, Mimi

Old Guys Rule

I found this paper and matching stickers at a LSS and had to have it for guy cards. I love the sayings that are one 'em. I think the old guys in my life will love the good humor in the cards and appreciate that I think they're cool!

Thanks for stopping by! XO, Mimi

My last Chic Boutique card, for now.

I saved the best for last. This one is my favorite of all of the ones I made. I'm not sure if it's the flower or all of the bling. Maybe both!

Well, I probably won't post again until after I get back in town so, stay sweet. XO, Mimi

I'm leavin' on a jet plane...

By the time you read this, I should be well on my way to Dallas, Texas to see my sister, brother, their spouses and some sweet babies! I am so excited to see them. It has been a couple years since we last saw each other.
I am going all by myself. No husband, no children, just me. I know I am going to miss the heck out of my wonderful husband and kids but this is time for me to be able to be with my brother and sister and just be ME. Not Mom or wife.
So, the next few posts are scheduled for while I am gone so, don't worry if there is not much "talking" going on. Just cute cards!

I LOVE this card. All of the cups are paper pieced with Basic Grey paper and the sentiment is on top of one of my new label nestabilities. Ther are some pearls on the label too. This card is SO me! LOL!

Have a great day! XO, Mimi

Merci!

Another pretty card from Chic Boutique.
I love paper piecing with this set. It really looks pretty with the dress form.

Can't tell too much from the picture but I used my glitter markers on the fringe and the stand.

Have a sweet day. Off to Texas in the morning! Woo Hoo! XO, Mimi

Coffee with a Friend

Not a single stamp used on this card. Can you believe it? Well, I am sure I will stamp a sentiment on the inside.

This is paper that I have had for several years and had always liked but never cut into it. I love the soft tones and the sketchy look to the pictures. This would make a great "Hi, how ya' doin'?" card.

Have a nice day! XO, Mimi

On a Halloween Kick!

I have been busy making Halloween cards lately.
I pulled out my Halloween Inspiration Station and was so inspired, I had to create something spooky.
I got the idea for an Inspiration Station from Michelle Wooderson quite a while ago.
Now I have one for Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day.
They are very helpful when you need to get those creative juices flowing in a particular direction.

Anyway, here is one of my latest creations. I used some dimensional stickers I found. They really are so cute.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day! XO, Mimi

Hey, What's Cooking?

I got new rubber and paper yesterday and had to play.
Even though I was supposed to be cleaning and doing laundry.
Ha! How can a person clean and do laundry with the smell of
fresh rubbah coming from the priority mail box on the counter?
Obviously, I cannot! LOL!

I made this cutie with some new October Afternoon
Early Bird paper and the stamps are from Hero Arts.
The ribbon is from Papertrey and the charm is from
Karen Foster. The coloring matches the paper much
better IRL.
Oh well, I like it!

BTW, there is a free jewelery demo at Michaels on Saturday
from 1 to 3. Please come and keep me company, if you live locally.
If you don't live locally, go to your nearest Michaels and keep
their demo gal company.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend. XO, Mimi

What's all the hype about chandeliers?

I really don't know why chandeliers are so "IN" right now but I have tried to fight the urge until I found a nice little set at Michaels with several different chandeliers. Low and behold, while blurfing,(blog surfing), I came accross this beautiful card and couldn't wait to make my own version. I think it is very pretty. Happy Thursday. XO, Mimi

Let's Do Coffee!

I love coffee and anything to do with coffee. These chipboard coffee cups are a favorite of mine. They come on a chain from Maya Road so you can use them as a book but I like to use them individually on things.
This card was so much fun to make. I just dug through my scraps and came out with what you see. I honestly don't know the names of the different papers since they are just scraps but they looked fun when I put them together. The letters are from Michaels and they are just $1.00 so I feel free to use them up!
Hope you enjoyed coffee with me and Have a great day! XO, Mimi

Love those vintage BINGO cards!

I saw a card like this on one of the blogs that I surf and decided it was time for me to print up some vintage BINGO cards. So, I hit the Google button and started searching for some pictures. When I found what I like, I printed some up on cardstock and made this little gem.
I love how it turned out!
Oh, and by the way, I made the crochet flower too!
I have been crocheting up a bunch of them.
They are so easy and fun to make.
I have started carrying my needle and thread with me so that I can do them anytime I am sitting and waiting with nothing to do.
Thanks for looking. Hope you have a relaxing Sunday! XO, Mimi

Oops!

I forgot to upload the pictures. So sorry!

Yes, eight is great. This is a card that I made for my, soon to be, 8 yo.
I used orange because it is my 18yo's favorite color and I think she will want to give this to her sister for her upcoming Birthday.

The paper is Scenic Route, the 8 is from Stampin' Up! and the yellow glitter letters are from Michaels and they are only $1.00 and come in many colors.

I love it and I know that she will too.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day! XO, Mimi

We're Back!

We got home on Friday, actually. I was just too busy unpacking the camper and I had to work on Saturday and yesterday was a day of complete rest!

I have been a busy girl though.

This is just one of the cute little things I have made since being home.

The paper for this card is from TPC Studio and it is full of bright colors, flowers and bugs. I love it.

I think it goes great with this Kim Hughes set called Fun Summer Trees.
I love that big daisy button too!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, so far! Thanks for stopping by! XO, Mimi

My last camper card, promise!

I love this colorful camper. It reminds me of the Partridge Family bus! LOL! Now I'm showing my age!
Still havin' fun in Orlando. Wish you were here!

Another one, from the road

Well, there are no snow capped mountains here in Orlando, FL but we are having a blast.
The weather is fabulous and we may head to a water park today.
Thanks for stoppin' by! XO, Mimi
