Last night, a few of my friends and I played around with the "Cascading Card" technique. I know that Susan Peters, from The Crafting Cow, had done a class on it at the last H2U. However, I was too busy to get her instruction.
I have seen them all over Pinterest lately and there are some great ones on Splitcoast Stampers too. I wish Splitcoast would do a tutorial on them. Splitcoast has always, hands down, posted the best tutorials. If you have ever tried to write a tutorial or teach someone how to do any fancy fold technique, you know that it is NO easy task!
Anyway, after I watched some You Tube videos and figured it out, I decided to invite a few close friends over to try it too.
It was so much fun. Here are the cards we came up with. They are not all the way finished, because it started getting late, but you can tell they had fun and when they are done, they will be spectacular!
These are a couple that I made using old Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin kits that I have had hanging around FOREVER!! I love using Stampin' Up!'s Window sheets (#114323 page 216 $4.95) for the clear pieces that the letters are on. The plastic is nice and sturdy and just seems to disappear. Perfect!
Here is one that my friend Lisa made for her Father's Birthday. She also used a Simply Scrappin' Kit and some Window Sheet pieces for the "floating" pieces. I think this turned out awesome!!!
The other three are not embellished yet but I'm sure, when they are done, someone is going to be very happy to get one in the mail!
These look great. I have never made a cascading card before. I should probably try one!
